Jason West, COO/CFO
Jason West serves as Chief Operating Office and Chief Financial Officer of Internet Marketing Expert Group, Inc.
Jason began his career on a path that is rare among other IT professionals. Having earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College, Jason’s goal was to complement his natural technical savvy with a strong foundation in business and finance. The best way to do this, he felt, was to join a Fortune 50 Company within the accounting division. Thus, in 1999 he accepted his first position with MCI WorldCom, a $40 billion telecommunications company with over 70,000 employees world-wide, as a financial analyst for the Budgets and Planning department, where he quickly assumed the additional responsibilities of designing, implementing, and administering the company’s global budget application software for which he received the Finance Forward Award. Near the end of 2001, Jason found himself assuming more technology responsibilities as he transferred to the Global Management Reporting Systems department where he developed, tested, and implemented new technologies that enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate finance and accounting initiatives.
Before the well-publicized demise of MCI WorldCom, Jason pursued a new career that would benefit from his strong financial and technological backgrounds, but would also challenge him and push the boundaries of his comfort zone. In 2002, he found his challenge in an established upscale retail business. After brokering an investment in Fridge’s, Inc., he was appointed as President and Chief Financial Officer. Responsible to a Board of Directors, Jason did not disappoint in his efforts. During his tenure, he improved productivity while reducing staffing and operational costs by 42%, optimized organizational efficiencies through technology enhancements and the streamlining of processes, and increased the average profitability of inventory from 48% to 62%. Eventually, Jason desiring to be closer to family and seeking business opportunities outside of Mississippi, he sold his investment and moved to Tennessee.
Aiming to get back into accounting and finance, Jason found his match with an entrepreneur who owned and had investments in 13 companies ranging from construction, cabinet-making, railing, property management, and real estate with a cumulative income of over $26 million. Hired as manager and accountant, Jason benchmarked his own unique method for managing various aspects of numerous diversified businesses. Eventually, with growth exceeding expectations, Jason partnered with the entrepreneur and created Alexander Services, LLC. This new company specialized in accounting, office management, and business consulting services, including financial planning, budgeting, and tax preparation.
In 2009, Jason was hired by the then new Internet Marketing Expert Group to manage their accounting needs. With the exponential growth of the company in 2011, he was asked to join forces with Internet Marketing Expert Group and assume the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer to be in charge of day-to-day operations and the company’s financial planning.
